Oil and Gas projects in Oman

Salalah Ammonia Plant

Description

Takamul Investment Co., a subsidiary of state-owned Oman Oil Co., launched a project in 2014 to develop a 1,000 tonne-per-day (tpd) ammonia plant at the Salalah Special Economic Zone in southern Oman. The plant will receive rich hydrogen purge gas feedstock from the 3,000-tpd methanol plant at the zone operated by Takamul subsidiary Salalah Methanol Co. – which is handling the ammonia project. Germany’s Linde won the front-end engineering and design contract in 2014 and prequalification was launched for the engineering, procurement and construction contract but the project was then delayed. State-owned Oman Gas Co. awarded a delayed EPC contract on the Salalah Loop Line project to supply additional gas to the city in late 2015 and a tender was floated soon afterwards for the ammonia plant EPC contract. Six bids were submitted during the second quarter of 2016.
