South Stream Pipeline Project

South Stream was a four-string, 63 bcm gas pipeline which would have connected Russian supplies with markets in southern Europe via the Bulgarian Black Sea coastline. It was cancelled in 2014 amid outrage at the Russian annexation of Crimea and concerns over its influence in Bulgaria, however, Moscow has since indicated the project may be back on the table.
